Course Description

French

Development of the four language skills: understanding, speaking, reading and writing. 

Students are asked to purchase French: A Self -Teaching Guide, 2nd Edition by Suzanne A. Hershfield-Haims. It can be purchased online through Amazon.com.

German

Spanish I

Students will learn the sounds of the language as spoken mainly in the United States. Grammar covered will be the use of the three basic ver groups  -AR, -ER and -IR verbs, Irregular verbs and Stem-Changing verbs in the Present Tense.  Several irregular verbs: ser, estar, & gustar will be presented. Other areas covers will include: nouns, articles and adjectives. (Textbook $20.00)

Spanish II

Students will review Spanish I.  Focus remains on a combination of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Grammar will continue in the present tense verb usage. Additional study of different types of adjectives and other grammatical discussion will continue. It also covers: numbers, days, months, dates, expressing time and a more advanced coverage of adjectives. 

Requires purchase of a textbook.

Spanish III

Students will review Spanish I & II, present tense stem-changing, reflexive verbs, present progressive tense, comparisons of adjectives, direct object pronouns, formal commands, intro to the subjunctive mood, speaking, reading and writing.
