Who We Are

Spring Branch Education Foundation believes in student success. As the nonprofit organization that partners with Spring Branch ISD, we fund programs that enrich education for students across the district. Led by a volunteer board of community leaders, we raise funds through donations and community events. Thanks to a generous community, we give scholarships to a growing number of seniors each year, and we award grants for mentoring programs, classroom libraries, technology and much more.

Our board and volunteers believe in quality, public education for EVERY child; and we believe strong schools build strong communities.

Organized in 1993, we now routinely donate more than $1 million each year to the district. You can help. Together, we are Making Our Schools Better.

Mission

Spring Branch Education Foundation is committed to supporting our students and educators. We partner with Spring Branch ISD and the community to fund programs that enhance education and prepare our students for the future.

Challenge

For SBISD, the State of Texas education funding formula means that millions of our local property taxes do not remain in Spring Branch.

Our district sent $75 million in local tax collections to the state during the 2018 school year and is slated to send $88 million this school year in the funding equalization method officially called Recapture; and, known by many as Robin Hood.

Solution

Private funding, through the Foundation, remains in the district and helps enhance quality of education. SBEF raises funds only for SBISD. In the last two years, the Foundation donated more than $3 million to the district. In addition to reaching students across the district through grants and scholarships, in 2017-18, the Harvey Relief Fund helped student and staff families who were displaced by Hurricane Harvey.

Support SBEF

Together, we can achieve our ultimate goal of excellence in education for every SBISD student. Donations can be designated for specific district-wide or campus projects. Donors are recognized district-wide, and all donations are tax deductible.

We are leaders in our field.

In 2016, Caruthers Institute ranked SBEF 42nd in the nation among 188 K-12 education foundations and in the top 10 of its division of foundations with $1 million to $1,999,999 in revenues.
