Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program
Available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from selective four-year colleges and universities

Coca-Cola Scholarship
Supports students who excel academically and are actively involved in their schools. Other requirements apply

The Gates Scholarship
Highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households

Dell Scholars Program
Focuses on low income highly motivated students who demonstrate a desire and ability to overcome  barriers and achieve their goals. Participants must have participated in a program-approved college readiness  program in grades 11 & 12. 

The College Board Opportunity Scholarship
Guides students through the applying to college process. If students complete all 6-scholarship steps, they will be eligible for a $40,000 scholarship.  

Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
Seeks to equip Hispanic families with the knowledge and resources to successfully complete a higher  education while providing scholarships and support to as many outstanding Hispanic American students as  possible.

Horatio Alger Association 
Need-based college Scholarships help deserving students overcome adversity and pursue their dreams  through higher education. (National, targeted, career and technical, state scholarships)

The Terry Foundation 
Seeks to develop future leaders of Texas through access to education. It is awarded to Texas high school seniors  who have been accepted for admission to one of the Terry-affiliated public universities in Texas. Requirements and  deadlines differ depending on affiliated institution.

Texas Match the Promise Foundation 
Scholarships and grants are awarded in the form of Texas Tuition Promise Fund®tuition units. These tuition units represent a fixed amount of undergraduate tuition and school-wide required fees at Texas public colleges and  universities.as Tuition Promise Fund

United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
The nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority-group members. It also manages a variety of scholarship programs. Requirements varies depending on scholarship.

Golden Door Scholars
Provides scholarship opportunities for undocumented students.

MALDEF
Provides an extensive list of scholarships, including many that do not inquire about immigration status.

THEDREAM.US
Is the nation’s largest college access and success program for DREAMers.

Additional Scholarship Application - Completing additional forms that require submission.

Automatically considered for scholarship - There is no separate scholarship application.

Merit Based Scholarship - scholarships that require certain criteria by the organization or individual awarding the  scholarship.

Microscholarships - money that students can earn for accomplishing everyday tasks that prepare them for success.

Need Based Scholarships - scholarships that are based on your financial need.

One time award - the student will receive the scholarship one time.

Reoccurring award - the student will receive the award annually. (Annually typically refers to 8 semesters or 4 years of undergraduate).

Scholarship Application - Complete separate application that the student needs to complete and submit  to be considered for the scholarship.

Scholarship applications commonly ask for students to provide

• High School Transcript
• Standardized test scores
• Financial aid forms such as the FAFSA or CSS Profile
• Parents’ financial information
• One or more essays
• One or more letters of recommendation
• A small photo
• Proof of Eligibility for Scholarship (proof of membership in a group)
• Resume and/or brag list

*Keep in mind that some scholarships may also ask the student to participate in an interview, audition or submit a portfolio.

2. Background - religious affiliation, or Ethnicity
3. Skills - performing arts or play a sport
4. Activities - leadership experience, military service or volunteer work
5. Other criteria -  such as gender or family military history, work affiliation.
