Childcare
SBISD Childcare Centers are licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services under Childcare Licensing Department and SBISD Board of Trustees.
All childcare centers are self-sustaining programs and tuition-based.
Mission
The mission of the childcare centers is to provide a positive, nurturing, caring environment where children can grow physically, emotionally and cognitively. In order to accomplish this, all centers strive to maintain a close relationship between school and home. Parents are encouraged to interact with teachers and the center manager daily.
- Lab School Program - SBISD high school students enrolled in the Pre-Laboratory Childcare course visit the center daily with their instructors for actual experiences with young children. This prepares them for careers in childcare, teaching and related fields.
- Inclusion - Children in childcare centers share learning experiences with students in Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD). They interact in a variety of ways: gross motor, music, outside time, cooking lessons and center play.
- Parent Advisory Council - All parents are encouraged to become active members of our Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The team meets monthly to discuss upcoming events, fundraising and ways to support the children. Each childcare center has monthly meetings.
