Edwina Clissa, M.Ed.: Enhancing Student Support at SBISD
 

 

With over 26 years of experience in education, Edwina Clissa, M.Ed., joins Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) as the LD Instructional Specialist and 504 Program Advisor. Her extensive expertise and dedication to supporting students are reflected in every aspect of her career.

A Legacy of Excellence

Clissa’s connection to public education is deeply rooted in her family legacy. Her grandfather served as an Assistant Superintendent, her grandmother was a devoted classroom teacher, and her father made significant contributions as a history teacher and high school principal. This strong educational background has profoundly influenced Clissa’s career path.

A Rewarding Career

Inspired by her father's advice to “love what you do and go to work with a smile,” Clissa has devoted her career to making a positive impact at every grade level. Her commitment to addressing student needs aims to maximize instructional effectiveness and foster a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Clissa holds a bachelor's degree in political science and dual master’s degrees in School Counseling and Administration & Supervision. Her career has predominantly focused on school counseling, emphasizing her dedication to student support.

Clissa's decision to join SBISD was driven by thorough research and alignment with the district’s values. “After evaluating the district and its surrounding areas, I was drawn to SBISD’s positive reputation. The alignment between the district’s values and my professional goals became evident during the interview process, confirming that SBISD was the perfect fit,” said Clissa.

As she embarks on this new role, Clissa’s vision is to prepare and empower students for their present and future endeavors, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities effectively.

Supporting T-2-4 and District Priorities

Clissa’s role supports SBISD’s T-2-4 vision, which ensures that students have pathways to technical certifications, military training, or higher education. The Section 504 program, which she oversees, is crucial in providing accommodations that help level the playing field for students transitioning to post-secondary pathways.
