FamilyPoint Resources: A Good Neighbor creating belonging, opportunity, and hope

A local coach once noticed something powerful. His players didn’t just need a place to play—they needed people who believed in them. From that vision grew FamilyPoint Resources, a trusted Good Neighbor and close partner to Spring Branch ISD (SBISD), helping families find opportunity right where they live.

“Every Child has incredible promise,” said Stephanie Hruzek, executive director of FamilyPoint Resources. “Sometimes they just need someone who knows their story and walks beside them to remind them how capable they are.”

Today, FamilyPoint serves more than 665 children each year, meeting each one where they are and helping them grow through academic support, enrichment, and community connection. From after-school programs and tutoring to sports, college readiness, and summer camps, FamilyPoint creates learning experiences that adapt to what students and families need most.

“Through these experiences, kids learn grit, teamwork, and resilience,” Hruzek said. “But more than that, they feel seen, valued, and known.”

FamilyPoint also expands students’ horizons through college and technical school tours, scholarships, and mentorship. The programs align closely with SBISD’s T-2-4 vision, preparing every student for the path that fits them best—whether that means technical training, a two-year degree, a four-year university, or military service. It’s about opening doors, not limiting them, and ensuring that every student can choose the future that feels right for them.

With more than 400 active volunteers, many of them high school students, FamilyPoint is cultivating the next generation of leaders—young people learning how to lead with empathy, service, and purpose.

“It’s been such an unexpected gift,” Hruzek said. “When you take a genuine interest in a child, they begin to believe in themselves. And when that happens, they pass that same care on to others. That’s what community really means.”

“Our strength as a district comes from partnering with local non-profits, listening to our families and working side by side with them in our schools ands community,” said Linda Buchman, Associate Superintendent for Communications and Community Engagement. “FamilyPoint is a perfect example of what happens when schools and neighbors collaborate with a shared purpose. Together, we create opportunities that truly meet our students’ needs and dreams.”

As FamilyPoint Resources looks to the future, it remains committed to listening and evolving alongside the families it serves. The organization continues its long partnership with SBISD to ensure that all learners, regardless of circumstance, have the support and opportunities to reach their full potential.

“Together, we make the world a better one relationship, one opportunity, one child at a time,” Hruzek said.
