Alumnus Jacob Jennings Brings New Perspective to Homecoming as a Teacher

As Spring Woods High School (SWHS) gears up for this year’s homecoming festivities, alumnus Jacob Jennings (Class of 2018) is bringing a fresh perspective to the celebrations. Jennings, now a teacher at his former high school, is looking forward to experiencing homecoming from the other side of the classroom for the first time.

During his high school years, Jennings found his most memorable experience on the swim team. “Being part of the swim team was really special to me,” he said. “It was a great opportunity to bond with my teammates and push myself both physically and mentally.”

Jennings also credits his teachers with shaping his high school experience, particularly Ms. Price. “Ms. Price was a big inspiration. My friends and I would eat lunch in her classroom almost every day. When I started considering becoming a teacher myself, I wanted to create a space where students felt safe and wanted to spend time,” he said.

Although Jennings wasn’t initially enthusiastic about homecoming and other school events, he has come to appreciate their significance. “You only get four years of high school, and those experiences are worth attending,” he noted. “The most special memory for me was being nominated for king and queen with my best friend our senior year.”

This year’s homecoming holds unique significance for Jennings as it will be his first as a teacher. “It’s exciting to experience homecoming from a different perspective,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how the students enjoy these events.”

“The one constant is the students," said Jennings. “It’s fun to reflect on my own experiences and see similar dynamics playing out with today’s students. It’s truly special to witness.”

As a dedicated member of the Spring Woods High School community, Jennings is eager to contribute to the homecoming spirit and support his students. “I’m thrilled to be part of this event again, especially in my role as a teacher,” he said.
