Artist Chloe Shao earns national recognition

Memorial High School (MHS) senior Chloe Shao has been named a 2026 YoungArts winner in Visual Arts, one of the highest national honors for high school artists. Chloe earned her spot among only 74 Visual Arts winners selected from across the country.

Her achievement reflects the strength of SBISD’s fine arts programs and the exceptional instruction our educators provide to help students develop their craft and creative voice. This school year, SBISD earned its fifth consecutive District of Distinction award from the Texas Art Education Association, recognizing the district’s long-standing commitment to high-quality and comprehensive arts education.

We are proud of Chloe, her teacher Elisa Barry, and every student and educator whose creativity and hard work continue to shine across SBISD.

As we move into spring, watch for more celebrations of student artists, including honorees from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program, VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), and SBISD Fine Arts Signing Day.

Congratulations, Chloe.
