Five Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) elementary schools, in partnership with CYCLE Houston, rewarded second grade students who had excelled in their reading goals with brand-new bicycles and helmets. These unforgettable celebrations took place Dec. 9, spreading joy among students, families and all attendees.
David Rodriguez, Spring Branch Elementary principal, expressed gratitude to CYCLE Houston's invaluable contribution to expanding students' literacy skills. "The bikes serve as excellent motivators to maintain focus on reading goals. It’s delightful to see their diligent efforts reflected in the radiant smiles and the beaming pride of both the children and their parents. We owe immense thanks to CYCLE Houston and their volunteers," said Rodriguez.
Sharing similar sentiments, Woodview Elementary principal Irma Garner applauded the exceptional performance of her students, expressing her belief that this recognition would spark further academic growth and motivate students to strive beyond expectations in the upcoming semester. "Our partnership with CYCLE Houston underscores the tremendous impact of community engagement in boosting education and propelling students to achieve excellence," said Garner.
"This collaborative effort has not only sparked academic growth but also fostered a love for reading," said principal Aylin Martinez of Spring Shadows Elementary.
The participating SBISD schools in the CYCLE Houston partnership include Edgewood, Spring Branch, Spring Shadows, Terrace and Woodview elementaries.
