The School Zone: News

Recently, SBISD Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Blaine had the opportunity to visit Spring Woods High School to see the transformative and extensive renovations done on the campus library, as part of the 2017 bond program. The library upgrades include “learning stairs,” new collaborative learning areas and furniture.

Other recent bond work and highlights include:

•    Cedar Brook Elementary: Work is complete on a new library with skylights and new collaboration area; a six-classroom music room and science lab addition is included.

•    Hunters Creek Elementary: This full school replacement project is showing exterior and interior building progress with visible onsite construction; a planned August 2021 opening remains on track.

•    Landrum Middle School: This project reflects the first rebuild of a middle school in SBISD. Aside from a 3-story structure currently in progress, brick walls are now going up on classrooms; courtyards are becoming visible; a two-story skybridge connects buildings.

•    Memorial High School: Work includes several highly visible elements: steel recently went up on campus for a 4-story classroom addition; a completed tennis complex and playing courts; and a new turf field.

The promise of the future begins within our walls. The 2017 bond program is working to make that future brighter for Every Child. For more about specific bond projects and behind-the-scenes videos, visit the BOND 2017 webpage.
