Spring Branch ISD will continue its celebration of National School Lunch Week (Oct. 12-16) with special menus from Oct. 19-23 highlighting the importance of healthy food choices and the role school lunch plays in a child’s development and life. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Blast Off with a Healthy School Lunch.”
SBISD’s Child Nutrition Services (CNS) division is offering an out-of-this-world menu for the week of Oct. 19-23. Explore the menu.
Nationally, 30 million students enjoy healthy lunches every school day. Today’s lunches meet strict nutrition standards, including limits on calories, sodium and unhealthy fats. Students can enjoy fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, while meeting federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium.
Only a week ago, SBISD and other school districts nationwide learned from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) that no cost meals will be offered to all students through June 2021, or the end of the current school year. All district students may receive breakfast and lunch at no cost under the USDA extended waiver announcement. Please refer to the SBISD Child Nutrition Services website for additional details.
