Celebrating the Class of 2024: Madelyn Madaras

“I will miss the incredible teachers I have had throughout my entire education.”

What did you enjoy most about going to school in Spring Branch ISD (SBISD)?

One of the most rewarding aspects of my education was the opportunity to engage in advanced classes. From the gifted and talented program at my elementary school to the rigorous AP® courses in high school, I've always sought out challenges. These classes have not only satisfied my thirst for knowledge but also fostered my intellectual growth, preparing me for the academic rigors of college and beyond.

During your high school years, which activities did you participate?

My high school years were marked by my active participation in American Ninja Warrior, a popular TV show where athletes conquer America’s most challenging obstacle courses. I began my Ninja Warrior journey at the age of 9 and started competing seriously at the start of my freshman year. I proudly participated in two seasons of the show (seasons 15 and 16) during my sophomore year. This experience was not just about physical strength, but it also led to significant personal growth. It bolstered my confidence, ingrained self-discipline, and deepened my work ethic, all of which I have successfully applied to my high school studies and beyond.

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen about to start high school?

High school is the time to build up your resume for college and explore your interests. Stay dedicated to your classes and participate in extracurricular activities and clubs. Try new things to find what you are passionate about. High school is a pivotal time; prioritize your grades and work hard. Your future self will thank you!

What will you miss most about SBISD?

I will miss my incredible teachers throughout my entire SBISD education. All my teachers have been knowledgeable, empathetic, and dedicated to helping every student learn and grow. I’m incredibly grateful that I learned so much from such knowledgeable teachers, and I will miss all of them.

What is one fun or surprising fact about you?

A surprising fact about me is that I’m graduating early. I’m 16 and combined my junior and senior classes into one school year to challenge myself and gain as much knowledge as possible.

Where are you headed next?

I plan to take a gap year, where I hope to gain more real-world experience and explore my passions before college. This year will allow me to determine what I want to pursue in college and provide knowledge and expertise to help me throughout my future career. I plan to pursue the biomedical field, as I have always been interested in biology and chemistry.
