Championing Our Schools: Spotlight on A. Frank Klam, C.P.L.

At the heart of Spring Branch’s community are stories of dedication and spirit, epitomized by A. Frank Klam, C.P.L. His lifelong commitment to our schools and community's children is a true inspiration.

Klam’s connection to Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) is profound. As an alumnus of Housman Elementary, Landrum Junior High, and Spring Branch High School, he and his wife chose to return to their roots after college, ensuring their children received the same exceptional education at Valley Oaks Elementary, Spring Branch Middle, and Memorial High School. Their commitment extended further with A. Frank serving as president of the Valley Oaks PTA.

Reflecting on his PTA experience, Klam says, “I realized that being an active parent can make a difference. Through our involvement, I saw firsthand how community support truly impacts a child’s education.”

Beyond his PTA work, Klam has actively supported school activities, from coaching baseball to announcing games. In 2025, he will celebrate 25 years of announcing Memorial High School softball games, demonstrating his enduring dedication to the school’s spirit and culture.

“Being involved in these activities has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life,” he says. “It’s all about being present and showing support for our students.”

Klam’s commitment to education and community extends beyond his family.

His son, Joseph, has also played a role as a community leader, serving on the SBISD Board of Trustees from 2016 to 2023. This family legacy of service highlights a shared dedication to enhancing educational experiences and supporting local initiatives. “Seeing my son step into a leadership role has been incredibly fulfilling. It’s a testament to the values we’ve worked to instill,” Klam reflects.

As president of the Spring Branch High School Alumni Foundation, Klam has been crucial in preserving and celebrating the history of Spring Branch schools. What began as a tribute to Spring Branch High School evolved into a museum showcasing the rich history of SBISD and the broader Spring Branch community.

“We’ve grown from honoring one school's legacy to celebrating the entire district and community,” he explains. “Our goal is to connect students with their local history, making it come alive for them.”

Klam’s story underscores a vital truth: the success of our schools relies heavily on community support.

“The key to any successful school is the support of parents and the community,” Klam emphasizes. “Every bit of involvement, whether it’s volunteering, mentoring, or supporting events, helps create a nurturing environment for our students.”
