The Class of 2025 at Northbrook High School (NHS) recently gathered to receive their caps and gowns—a small but powerful moment filled with excitement and pride as they take a big step toward graduation.
Principal HP Hyder III shared in that excitement, his own pride shining through as he celebrated alongside the students.
“Graduation is the reason I do what I do,” Hyder said. “Seeing our students in their caps and gowns, proud of all they’ve worked for, means everything. This moment isn’t just about the individual; it’s about the whole community that’s stood behind them every step of the way.”
Looking back on the year, Hyder spoke about the lessons that stood out from his students’ journeys: resilience, the support of caring teachers, growing confidence, and staying focused. These are the values NHS holds at its core, preparing every student with the skills needed to thrive beyond high school.
“Students like Paulina, Josue, and La’Nyah show us what dedicated teachers and a safe, encouraging environment can do,” Hyder said. “But it’s also about believing in yourself. Those lessons don’t just help students succeed in school—they help them grow as people.”
He didn’t hesitate to shine a light on the many people who make that success possible: teachers, staff, families, and friends. “It takes our Collective Greatness to raise our graduates. Every encouraging word, every bit of support, every act of kindness adds up to help our students reach their goals.”
As the Class of 2025 prepares to cross the stage, NHS celebrates not only their hard work but the community that helped make it possible.
“Our goal is to keep building on these strengths—confidence, resilience, and support—so every student graduates ready for whatever comes next,” Hyder said. “I couldn’t be prouder of this class and everyone who’s been part of their journey.”
