Class of 2026 Senior Spotlight | Jake Earnest

Memorial High School (MHS) senior Jake Earnest has made his impact through steady performance, discipline and a team-first mindset.

A Class of 2026 outfielder, Earnest has been a four-year varsity starter in one of Texas’ most competitive high school baseball programs, helping lead teams consistently ranked among the best in the state and nation. His production reflects that impact: 120 career hits, including 30 doubles, five triples and nine home runs, along with 70 RBIs and 53 stolen bases.

His performance earned multiple honors, including Texas High School Coaches Association second-team Class 6A all-state, Blue Bell second-team all-state, first-team all-district in 17-6A and recognition from Stinger Sports/ESPN All-Texas and Prep Baseball Report Futures All-Texas. He was also named first-team academic all-district and second-team academic all-state.

Moments like a late-game, two-run home run in a decisive playoff win over Cinco Ranch stand out, but Earnest points to the people around him as the most meaningful part of his experience.

“What stands out most to me is the group of players at Memorial,” he said. “Their dedication and drive pushed me to work harder every day, not just for myself, but for them.”

His coach described Earnest as someone who grew steadily from his freshman to senior year, evolving from a player learning the pace of the game into a leader who sets the standard through consistency and effort. Known for his quiet demeanor, Earnest leads by example, competing with purpose and holding himself and others to a high standard.

That same approach carried into the classroom. Earnest maintained a 6.35 weighted GPA while completing a rigorous schedule of AP and dual credit courses and earning four-time academic all-district recognition. A member of the National Honor Society, he balanced practices, travel and coursework while building discipline, resilience and time management skills.

Earnest also credits his faith as a steady foundation throughout his journey, helping him stay focused and grounded while navigating challenges. Leadership and service have also been central to his experience. For several years, Earnest volunteered with Post Oak Little League, helping coach younger players and giving back to the game that shaped him. He credits his parents, coaches and teammates for pushing him to stay consistent and committed.

Through those experiences, Earnest developed the accountability, perseverance and work ethic that reflect the core characteristics of an SBISD T-2-4 Ready Graduate.

After graduation, Earnest will attend the United States Air Force Academy, where he will compete in Division I baseball.
