Class of 2026 Senior Spotlight I Brinklee Michels

Stratford High School (SHS) senior Brinklee Michels leads with service, scholarship, and steady commitment

In Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD), student success is measured by more than results. For Stratford High School (SHS) senior Brinklee Michels, it’s about growth, leadership, and how she shows up for others.

Michels spent four years in the varsity golf program, where she became known for her consistency and team-first mindset. Her coach describes her as “dependable, positive, and always lifting up those around her,” a reflection of the role she played in building a strong team culture. For Michels, the lessons from golf went far beyond competition.

“Golf taught me patience, humility, and resilience,” she said. “Skills that pushed me to be better not just on the course, but in the classroom and in life.”

That same focus carried into her academic and leadership work. Michels maintained a 6.47 GPA while taking a rigorous mix of AP and dual credit courses. She earned recognition as an AP Scholar and was an active member of the National Honor Society.

Leadership came naturally to Michels. Outside the classroom, Michels took on meaningful leadership roles in several non-profit organizations. Her involvement across campus reflected a strong commitment to service. Michels supported students with disabilities and participated in Unified programs, helping create a more inclusive and welcoming school environment. Peers describe her as encouraging and optimistic, someone who leads by example in every setting.

Balancing academics, extracurriculars, and athletics required strong time management and communication, especially when travel took her out of the classroom. Michels’ support of others and contributions to the community reflect, while approaching her academics with focus and accountability, demonstrate the Core Characteristics of an SBISD T-2-4 Ready Graduate.

After graduation, Michels plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin through the Coordinated Admission Program, with plans to transfer to the Austin campus and pursue a career working with children.
