Computer Science Week observed in SBISD
Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. Hour of Code takes place world-wide during Computer Science Education Week, this year Dec. 9-13.
SBISD has participated, along with millions of students in 180+ countries, since its inception in 2014. Several SBISD campuses are hosting Hour of Code events. See a few in action here. The event is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper, Dec. 9, 1906.
Code.org provides the leading curriculum for K-12 computer science in the largest school districts in the United States and Code.org also organizes the annual Hour of Code campaign which has engaged 15% of all students in the world. Hour of Code tutorials and activities are available on the Hour of Code website.
