Coronavirus update - March 7, 2020

March 7, 2020 Update (SPANISH)

SBISD senior staff continues to closely monitor information concerning coronavirus (COVID-19) and follow the guidance and expertise of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), City of Houston Health Department, Harris County Public Health and Texas Department of State Health Services.

We are also following local news updates and appreciate our SBISD families and staff for sharing pertinent information. Our official guidance for SBISD will continue to be taken from the City of Houston Health Department and Harris County Public Health as well as other local, state and national health and governmental agencies.

District administrators, nurses, custodial and operations staff continue to take proactive measures for the well-being of our school community.

This weekend, our operations staff, with support from transportation staff, is treating the interior of all buses with a hospital-grade disinfectant as an added proactive measure in addition to our standard bus cleaning procedures.

SBISD is grateful for our entire staff, who continue to work tirelessly year-round to ensure our facilities are safe for our students.

Please be reminded, it is best to rely on factual information from reliable sources. Therefore, here are links to information about COVID-19 from local, state, national and international health organizations:

SBISD has also set up a webpage dedicated to COVID-19 that can be referenced for basic information, resources and district updates. We also encourage parents to keep sick children home from school. View a list of indicators that a child should remain home from school here.

The safety and protection of our students and staff is our top priority. District leaders will continue to monitor closely and keep you updated and informed. Thank you for your support of our district, our schools, our students and our teachers and staff.
