Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) teacher Cindy San Martin, who serves students at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP), got more than she expected when partners from First Community Credit Union (FCCU) walked into her classroom with a surprise.

To help first-year teachers kick off the new school year, FCCU held a special gift card drawing — and San Martin’s name was pulled as the lucky winner.

But this celebration is about more than one prize. FCCU is also a proud honoree in SBISD’s Good Neighbor Program, which this year marks its 20th anniversary. For two decades, the program has highlighted businesses, organizations, and community partners who go above and beyond in their support of Spring Branch schools, educators and programs.

20 Years of Good Neighbors

Since its start in 2004, the Good Neighbor Program has recognized hundreds of organizations that have invested their time, talents, and treasure to support SBISD students and staff. Honorees receive a recognition item and are publicly celebrated as valued members of the SBISD family.

From mentoring and volunteering to providing resources and financial support, Good Neighbors have played an essential role in strengthening the district’s culture of community.

A Tradition of Generosity

FCCU’s support of teachers through initiatives like the gift card drawing is just one example of the impact Good Neighbors can make. By showing up for educators and students, FCCU demonstrates what it means to be a partner in education.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to FCCU and every SBISD Good Neighbor over the past 20 years for helping shape a brighter future for our students.
