The School Zone: News

Every fall, Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) FFA members compete in Leadership Development Events, which are designed to build communication, public speaking, and critical thinking skills.

This year, twelve Spring Branch FFA teams competed with two advancing to state-level competition, held on December 6th and 7th at Sam Houston State University. Student participants will have an opportunity to exercise college and career readiness in communication at the competition.
Working in teams of 'communication consultants', they will develop a written media plan, present the project to a panel of judges, and apply what they have learned during practicums, a quiz, editing exercises, and something called Creed Speaking. Student participants explore a variety of technical skills such as journalistic and opinion writing, website design, video production, social media, and more.
Creed Speaking provides students will have an opportunity to communicate in a powerful, organized, and professional manner and build self-confidence. Click here to learn more about this activity.
Competition occurs at the local, state, and national levels and meets Career Cluster Content Standards. Congratulations to our FFA members on this accomplishment.
