Class of 2025: Vy Tran

The roar of the crowd under Friday night lights, the smell of turf and athletic tape, the calm focus behind the sidelines — this is where Vy Tran found her spark.

“Football practices, games, taking care of the athletes — that’s what I’ll never forget,” Vy said. “It felt like I was living in a movie, one that I created for myself.”

Now a graduating senior from Spring Woods High School (SWHS), Vy looks back on high school as a story of transformation — one shaped by challenges, mentors and the discovery of her passion for sports medicine.

When Vy first started high school, she was new to the country and unsure of what lay ahead.

“I wasn’t really active or involved,” she admitted. “I was just a girl who didn’t know what to expect from high school.”

English wasn’t her first language, and adjusting to classes was tough.

“As a freshman, it was only my third year living in America. I struggled, especially in English. But I always tried to learn and get better.”

And she did. With determination and support from her teachers, Vy began to shine. She credits her growth in large part to their encouragement.

“All of my teachers over the past four years have inspired me,” she said. “They helped me so much — especially with my English. I remember in AP Language when Mr. Font helped me revise my essay. That moment made me feel like he actually cared and wanted me to succeed.”

She added, smiling, “Shoutout to Mr. Font.”

Her hard work paid off: Vy will graduate with honors. She has earned awards not just academically, but also for her dedication as a student athletic trainer — a role that became her calling.

“One lesson I’ve learned is that if you’re passionate enough about something, you will make it happen,” she said. “Work hard, and you’ll achieve.”

That passion has grown into a career goal. Vy plans to pursue nursing in college, building on the foundation she laid on the sidelines and in the classroom. Along the way, she’s developed confidence, leadership and empathy.

“I’ve learned to care for others, be patient and build my self-value. These qualities have helped me become a better student, friend and leader.”

Vy’s gratitude runs deep — for her teachers, her trainers and the community that believed in her.

“Thank you to all my teachers, coaches and trainers who helped me get on and stay on the right path.”

To incoming high school students, Vy offers this advice: “Be kind, make good choices, and don’t be easy to influence. Focus on your grades — and appreciate every moment.”

From a quiet, uncertain freshman to a confident honors graduate with a vision for the future, Vy Tran’s journey is proof that passion, perseverance and community can shape a life — and a legacy.

We are proud to celebrate Vy. She is an example of determination, growth and kindness, and she embodies what it means to be a T-2-4 Ready graduate.
