Four Spring Branch ISD Student-Athletes to Compete at UIL State Track Meet May 8

 

Four of Spring Branch ISD’s star student-athletes will compete in the UIL State Track and Field Meet Saturday, May 8, in Austin.

Stratford High School is sending three students to the State Meet. Emanuel Galdino, a junior, will run in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter events. Emanuel was the 17-6A District Champion and the Area Champion in the 800, 1600, and 3200. At the Regional Meet, he won the 3200, was second in the 1600 and was third in the 800. Emanuel set school records in all three events at the Regional Meet.

Stratford Junior Parker Samuelson will compete in pole vault, in which he finished second at the Regional Meet after winning the district and area meets. His personal best in pole vault is 15’6.  Sophomore Evelyn Lavielle came back from a broken leg to win the regional championship in high jump with a jump of 5’8, qualifying her for the State Meet.

Memorial High School Senior Lizzie Gissell will compete in the high jump. She was district champion in the high jump, long jump and triple jump, and then won the long jump and triple jump at the Area Meet. She finished second in high jump at the Regional Meet with a personal best 5’7.

The UIL State Track and Field Meet will be held at Myers Stadium at the University of Texas at Austin.
