The countdown to college is here for the Class of 2026—and Texas is making it easier than ever to take the next step. From October 13–19, 2025, Texas students can apply to any Texas public college or university without paying an application fee during Free College Application Week.
How to Apply
To take advantage of this opportunity, students must submit their applications through ApplyTexas.
ApplyTexas is the statewide online application system—similar to the Common App, but designed specifically for Texas schools. Through ApplyTexas, students can:

Apply to any Texas public university, community college, and many private universities.

Submit application essays online.
-
Apply for scholarships at participating schools.
-
Complete applications as an undergraduate, transfer, international, or even graduate student.
What You’ll Need Before You Apply
Applying for college is exciting, but it goes smoothly when you’re prepared. Before you log in to ApplyTexas, gather the following information:

Personal details: Social Security number (if applicable), permanent address, phone number, emergency contact information.

High school info: Start and end dates for high school and any previous colleges attended.

Extracurriculars: Clubs, volunteer work, awards, honors, and leadership roles with dates and details.

Testing dates: Dates for any official exams (SAT®, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS).

Senior-year coursework: Titles and credit values of classes you’re taking this year.

College credit (if applicable): Course titles and credits for dual credit or transfer courses.
