From academic boosts to Career and Technical courses, SBISD’s summer school program offers exciting enrichment experiences

 

 

Summer school is near and this year, Spring Branch ISD will provide students with a wide variety of learning and enrichment opportunities. 

Summer school camps provide course recovery, original credit opportunities, and hands-on courses where students can gain new skills. 

“The beautiful thing about summer school in SBISD is that it provides a variety of opportunities to get students excited about learning and build on their strengths through engaging experiences and aligned interventions,” said Julie Baggerly, SBISD director of intervention services. 

Summer school programs include: 

Camp Connect – Pre-K through eighth-grade students can engage in accelerated math and language arts learning opportunities. Through Camp Connect, they will partake in enrichment experiences to improve student achievement. Camp Connect begins June 5, runs through June 29 and will take place at four campuses, including Wilchester Elementary, Bunker Hill Elementary, Spring Branch Elementary and Ridgecrest Elementary. 

Camp Credit – Geared towards ninth through 12th-grade, Camp Credit is for those seeking original credit or credit recovery. Courses offered for original credit and credit recovery include math, English, science, social studies and more. Camp Credit is offered in two in-person sessions. The first session runs from June 1 through June 15. The second session begins June 26 and concludes July 13. A virtual option is also available from June 1 through July 13. The in-person sessions will take place at Spring Woods High School. 

Camp Explore – In Camp Explore, fifth through 11th-grade students can engage in week-long Career and Technical Education camps. Students can participate in camps exploring Cosmetology, Graphic Design, Animation, Culinary, Robotics, Architecture, Health Science, Shark Tank and Crime Scene Investigations. Week one will be held from June 5-8 and week two will go from June 12-15. All sessions will be held at the Guthrie Center. 

Camp Welcome – SBISD’s Multilingual Department will invite fourth through ninth-grade students seeking English language development to participate in Camp Welcome. The camp is intended for newcomer students and will help them learn how to use the English language for personal, social and academic purposes. Camp Welcome will begin June 5, conclude June 29 and be held at Cornerstone Academy. 

There is no cost to attend Camp Connect and Camp Welcome. Tuition fees for Camp Credit can be found here. Tuition for Camp Explore is $60 for each week-long camp session. Bus transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost for all programs.
