From Shelf to Success: It all starts in SBISD's Central Warehouse

Located off a quiet side street near Gessner in Spring Branch ISD (SBISD), the district's Central Warehouse operates as a hidden yet indispensable hub. With towering shelves and buzzing activity, this facility goes beyond storage—it serves as a cornerstone supporting instruction throughout SBISD.

Every book and supply within its walls holds the potential to shape a student’s learning experience, making the facility a vital resource year-round, particularly during the bustling summer months. Wayne Schaper, Jr. and Carl Ann Pervis are pivotal figures in this operation. With 41 years of service, Schaper, from coaching to managing purchasing, embraces the warehouse’s ethos as a second home. "It’s like family here," he reflects proudly.

The mission is clear: to support SBISD’s 33,000 students across 42 schools with tireless dedication. "Everything we do is for the benefit of our students, teachers, principals, and families," says Schaper. His days from May to July are a whirlwind of inventory management and logistics, ensuring timely deliveries of textbooks and supplies to fully equip schools for the academic year.

Carl Ann Pervis, a 25-year veteran, echoes Schaper’s commitment. "My focus is on ensuring prompt deliveries," said Pervis, highlighting her team's dedication to excellence. Summer is their busiest period, devoted to preparing essential materials for the year ahead.

"It all begins here," Pervis emphasizes, acknowledging the role her team of four plays in laying the groundwork for student success.

As Schaper looks ahead to the upcoming academic year, his enthusiasm is almost palpable, "It’s going to be a great school year." With new science and Career and Technical Education materials, and outstanding leadership at the helm, he feels inspired and can’t wait to see the impact of his team’s efforts.

As Schaper and his team prepare for another year, their dedication ensures that Every Child in SBISD receives nothing but the best—a promising start to a future filled with knowledge and opportunity. #SBISDProud
