Future-ready and Service-minded: Cora Kelley

T-2-4 Goal

Cora plans to pursue an animal science degree at Texas A&M on a pathway to becoming a veterinarian. “I’ve always loved animals, and this year I’m raising my very own goat, which has opened up new opportunities for me.”

Academic Highlight

Cora is most proud of maintaining an A average, which has supported her involvement in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). “This organization has taught me a lot, and I don’t want to lose the opportunities it provides,” she said.

Core Characteristic

Cora sees herself as service-minded. “I show service at school by volunteering for events and being a leader and role model for other students,” she said.

Programs & Activities

Cora is actively involved in several organizations both in and out of school, including Future Farmers of America (FFA), NJHS, student council, National Charity League, and as a leader in her church’s student ministry. “These experiences have shaped me by teaching perseverance when things get tough and showing me how to be a leader who gives back to the community,” she said.

Favorite Subject

Science. “It’s the subject that shows how the world works, and I find that really interesting.”

Favorite Teacher

Mrs. Nykaza, Science. “She has made a difference in my learning and my life by making lessons fun, engaging, and hands-on. She has a genuine love for the subject.”

What She Loves About Her School

Cora appreciates the opportunity to meet new people from different elementary schools. “It has allowed me to grow as a person,” she said.

Expressing Individuality

Cora expresses her individuality by taking on various acting roles in the theater program. “This has influenced my future by helping me build confidence—especially speaking up and not being afraid in different situations,” she said.

Surprise!

“One thing people might be surprised to know about me is that I’ve been to 11 national parks. Three years ago, my family and I went to Guadalupe Mountains National Park and hiked to the top of Texas!”

Thank you, Cora, for exemplifying the Core Characteristics of a T-2-4 Ready Graduate through learning, leadership, and service.
