Spring Branch ISD Featured News

It’s bus driver appreciation week and national school bus safety week!

Our bus drivers travel hundreds of miles every day in service of our 35,000 kids. That’s 35,000 reasons to thank SBISD’s bus drivers for their fantastic work and to think about what you can do to support these dedicated public servants.

Here are a few reminders about road safety. You can honor our bus drivers every day by:

  • Paying attention to school buses and watch for warning lights. Flashing yellow lights are a warning to slow down and prepare to stop.
  • It’s estimated that over 10 million drivers illegally pass school buses every year. This puts children’s lives at risk. Stop when you see red. An extended stop sign and flashing red lights mean all motorists need to stop for children entering and exiting the bus.
  • Obstructed views and distracted drivers put students at risk. Parents need to talk to children about how to be safe when exiting and entering the school bus. Provided here is a resource your family can use to talk about school bus safety.

Our bus drivers are often the first and last person a student seeing during the school day. They greet children in the morning and send them home with words of encouragement at the end of the school day.
More importantly, they ensure students get to and from school safely every day.

Thank you to our drivers and the entire Transportation Department for the care and attention they show our students. If you’re interested in joining this amazing team, apply today.
