As we celebrate National Mentoring Month this January, Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) invites community members to become mentors and make a difference in the lives of local students.
With two impactful mentoring programs, SpringBoard Mentoring and Collegiate Challenge, SBISD offers opportunities for individuals to make a meaningful difference in the academic and personal growth of students from elementary through high school.
SpringBoard Mentoring
The SpringBoard Mentoring Program serves students in grades 3-12, pairing them with caring adults who provide guidance, encouragement and support. In just 30-45 minutes a week, mentors provide the gift of hope and give young people a vision of success, helping them achieve both academic and personal goals.
Research shows that students with mentors are:
- More likely to improve their attitudes toward school.
- More confident in their academic abilities.
- Better equipped to handle personal, school, and home-related issues that may hinder their success.
Collegiate Challenge
The Collegiate Challenge program is designed for high school juniors and seniors, offering them the tools and support they need to succeed in the college admissions process. As a Collegiate Challenge mentor, you will guide students through important steps like admissions applications, scholarships and financial aid, test preparation, and career exploration.
In just 90 minutes a week, mentors provide guidance and motivation to students, empowering them to pursue their T-2-4 goals.
