Meet Stratford High School's TJ Robinson

TJ Robinson is a senior at Stratford High School (SHS). He plans to attend college and study psychology with a focus on sports management. As a dedicated football player, he developed a passion for athletics and hopes to continue being part of the sports world. “My goal is to use my education and athletic background to support athletes and stay connected to the game I love,” said Robinson.

Academic pride: TJ is proud of balancing academics while being fully committed to the SHS football program. The leadership and coaching he has received in the program has helped him understand the importance of discipline and responsibility, traits that will serve him beyond high school. “I work hard to succeed both in the classroom and on the field,” he said.

Core strengths: TJ’s strongest characteristic is his perseverance. “Football has taught me to stay focused, work hard, and push through challenges,” said Robinson.

Programs & experiences: While football has been his main involvement at SHS, Robinson also participated in karate and chess in his younger days. All three games have shaped his abilities to be disciplined, strategic and confident.

Favorite subject: Astronomy: “I have recently developed a strong fascination for learning about space, the universe, and how everything works beyond Earth,” said Robinson. “I also enjoy history.”

Teacher shout-out: Robinson’s favorite teacher astronomy teacher, Mr. Mesler. “I appreciate how Mr. Mesler makes learning interesting and easy to understand,” said Robinson. “He is also very cool, patient and supportive of his students, which is inspiring.”

Individuality: Having moved to Houston just nine years ago, TJ has adapted and made an impact at school through his athletic abilities, determination, and leadership.

School pride: "I love the community at Stratford,” said Robinson. “Football especially gave me opportunities to build friendships, grow as a leader, and create lifelong memories.”

Just for fun: Something surprising about TJ is that he is left-footed. This gives him a unique advantage in sports, especially football, where left dominant athletes often bring a different skill set and versatility to the game.
