Memorial High School Artists Triumph: Shining Stars of Congressional Art Competition

As spring blooms, the Congressional Institute once again heralds the arrival of its annual high school visual art competition, a celebration of creativity and talent.

Since its inception in 1982, the competition has served as a beacon for budding artists, with over 650,000 high school students participating to date.

Among the talented students recognized in this year’s competition, Memorial High School (MHS) stands out proudly, boasting exceptional entries from five of its students.

Congratulations to our MHS students artists:

  • Katherine Han (3rd Place)
  • Maggie Lu (4th Place)
  • Zanli Morris
  • Cloe Shao (1st Place)
  • Kassia Tan

In an impressive display of skill and vision, Chloe Shao, a sophomore at Memorial High School, clinched the coveted 1st place. Her outstanding artwork secured her a spot at the upcoming Congressional Art Ceremony in Washington D.C. this June, a testament to her artistic talent.

But the triumph doesn't stop there. Memorial High School's Katherine Han claimed 3rd place, while Maggie Lu secured an admirable 4th place. Their commendable achievements underscore the depth of talent fostered within Memorial High School's artistic community.

The Congressional Art Ceremony not only serves as a platform for these talented individuals to showcase their work but also as a stage for national recognition.

Shao's winning entry will be prominently displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol, immortalizing the creativity and passion of this young artist.
