Ruthlen D. Robinson Honored with STEM Teacher Award

Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) is proud to announce that Ms. Ruthlen D. Robinson, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) educator, has received the STEM Teacher Award, presented by Our Community Salutes, USA.

This honor recognizes educators who exemplify outstanding service, compassion, and dedication to their students—qualities Robinson embodies daily.

STEM—science, technology, engineering and mathematics—plays a critical role in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. Through her work in CTE, Robinson nurtures the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

“From an early age, I was introduced to the world of STEM by my parents, both dedicated educators who instilled in me a deep love for learning,” Robinson said. “Their passion for education not only shaped my curiosity but also inspired me to become an advocate for the transformative power of knowledge. Growing up in an environment that valued exploration, discovery and problem-solving, I learned firsthand how education can open doors and change lives. Today, I carry that passion forward, striving to encourage and empower others to embrace STEM and pursue their own educational journeys.”

Robinson’s commitment to STEM education directly supports SBISD’s T-2-4 vision—ensuring all students are prepared for a successful future. By fostering critical workforce and higher education skills, CTE programs like Ms. Robinson’s are essential in helping students achieve their full potential.

“As a proud graduate of Southern University and A&M College, I remain deeply committed to giving back to the institution that laid the foundation for my success,” said Robinson. “I continue to support and mentor future engineers at my alma mater, driven by a passion to uplift the next generation of innovators and leaders. By sharing my experiences, offering guidance and fostering confidence, I hope to empower students to not only excel academically, but to boldly pursue their goals in engineering and beyond.”

This award marks the beginning of a season of recognition as SBISD celebrates the achievements of its educators and students. Earlier this spring, the district announced its Principals of the Year, who were recently honored by Region 4. SBISD also looks forward to announcing its Teacher of the Year winners soon, with six finalists already revealed.

Robinson will be formally recognized at the Our Community Salutes, USA Military Enlistee Recognition Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Houston Community College West Loop Center.

Congratulations to Ms. Robinson on this well-deserved honor!
