Multiple multiples in Memorial High Class of 2021

During the Memorial High School Class of 2021 graduation ceremony May 21, audience members may be shaking their heads and checking their hearing.

Among the 664 graduates announced, there will be MANY seniors with the same last names walking across the stage because there are three sets of triplets and 18 pairs of twins represented in the class!

Memorial High School 2021 Graduates: Nina, Seth and Alexander Garcia

Angie Garcia, parent to Nina, Seth and Alexander Garcia, says her emotions are up and down when she thinks about having three children graduate at the same time.

“It has been a miraculous experience,” Garcia said. “We had an instant party of three, and did not often have to arrange play dates because they had each other.”

She said it has been challenging to give each child what they needed to succeed. As her three graduates go off to college (Nina and Seth to the University of St. Thomas and Alexander to University of Texas), she will miss the travel and adventures they have enjoyed over the years knowing that family time will be more limited.

Memorial High School 2021 Graduates: Lauren, Glenn and Gaston Elie

Another parent of triplets, Gina Elie, notes that each of her children (Lauren, Glenn and Gaston) are in their own universes, but all are athletic, foodies, relatively private – and stubborn. She echoes Garcia’s emotions about graduation.

“I go from feeling excited and ready for them to move on, and sad not to have them around next year to visit with,” Elie said.

The Elie triplets will spread out far and wide next year. Lauren will attend the University of Texas. Glenn will major in business at Arizona State University and Gaston will do a post-graduation year at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.

Universal symbols of pride and joy -- smiles, clapping and tears -- will be evident during the Memorial High School Class of 2021 graduation ceremony. Representing a microcosm of the diversity in Spring Branch ISD, there are seniors from 34 countries with 24 different home languages in the class.

Congratulations to all the graduates – singles, doubles and triples -- of the Memorial High School Class of 2021.
