High school musicians across Texas recently competed for the All-State ensemble honors from the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), an award that reflects their extensive dedication and musical knowledge.
Twelve Spring Branch ISD students from Memorial High School (MHS), Spring Woods High School (SWHS) and Stratford High School (SHS) received the prestigious TMEA All-State honors.
“Being selected to an All-State music ensemble is the highest individual accolade a student can earn in an educational music program,” said Houston Hayes, SBISD’s Director of Performing and Fine Arts. “We are so proud of all of our students who continue to represent SBISD and everything we stand for.”
Last fall, more than 70,000 high school students across Texas auditioned in their TMEA region for a panel of judges who ranked each instrument or voice part. Only a select group of musicians advanced to compete against musicians from other regions. The highest-ranking musicians then competed at the state level for placement in All-State band, orchestra or choir ensembles.
