Northbrook Students Receive Creative Challenge from Flight 25

Recently, Northbrook High School students participated in a unique challenge that involved devising imaginative names for paint swatches.

This wasn't just a typical art class, but rather a special mentorship session led by NewSprings's Flight 25 program.

During the Flight 25 event, Leslie Sinclair of Segreto Finishes took the lead presenting students with an insightful glimpse at the intricacies of managing and thriving in the world of the interior design business.

The program encourages students to view postsecondary education as an investment in their future. It also helps students and their families address potential obstacles to achieving success after high school graduation. Flight 25 directly supports Spring Branch ISD's vision of T-2-4 for Every Child.

Established in 2007, Flight 25 was initially created as a class project for Leadership Houston, aiming to assist under-resourced teenagers in unlocking their full potential and becoming leaders in their schools and communities.

Flight 25 recruits students Landrum Middle School's eighth grade class and commits to helping them pursue a career field of their choice.

Work begins when students enter Northbrook High School. Students attend monthly sessions for all four years of high school, gaining exposure to speakers from a diverse range of industries and fields, including engineering, music, finance and the sciences, among others.

Over the past 15 years, approximately 1,000 students have completed the Flight 25 program. Upon completion of the four years of mentoring and graduating from Northbrook, each student receives a $1,000 scholarship that can be used for tuition at a technical school, college or university.

Flight 25 provides an exceptional opportunity for students to explore various career fields, learn about available scholarships and career opportunities, and network with professionals and area business leaders.
