Spring Branch ISD is hosting Parent U - Vaping 101: What Every Parent Needs to Know for all families on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This session will highlight what electronic cigarettes and vapes are, how to help your student if you suspect they are using, and share available resources for families.
Vapes and e-cigarettes have become very common amongst teens and adolescents. Nearly all vaping products contain nicotine causing many health problems including addiction, lung damage, respiratory problems and additional health risks associated with their use.
The Parent U session will be hosted by SBISD’s System of Care team, who works alongside campuses to provide coaching and professional development to strengthen learning environments for students. The SBISD Police Department will also present during the session to inform families about local policies and how the district addresses when students are caught using vapes or e-cigarettes on campus.
During the event, families will learn about signs to look for to identify whether their child is vaping. Additionally, the session will provide guidance to support students in their journey to quit using. It is important to start the conversation and let your student know the dangers of vapes and e-cigarettes.
Register today in English or Spanish.
