Partners collaborate to bring STEAM Night to Thornwood and SBAI students

The joint contributions and efforts from a long list of Spring Branch ISD partners made the first-ever STEAM Night a success for students and parents from Thornwood Elementary and SBAI (Spring Branch Academic Institute).

Thanks to a generous donation from Shell Corporation, the schools were able to host the event with Houston Museum of Natural Science docents running multiple hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) stations.

Community volunteers and TWE/SBAI staff members also came out to support the event. A huge thanks was expressed by the schools’ leaders to the volunteers from the following organizations: Samsung, NOAA Weather Service, City of Houston Office of Emergency Management, Houston Public Library, Chick-fil-A and Kona Ice.

“What an amazing opportunity to engage in meaningful STEAM activities,” TWE Assistant Principal Joanne Lim said. “And who knows? We may have just sparked someone’s future career in motion!”
