The Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) Procurement Services team has been awarded the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) Purchasing Award of Merit for the 14th consecutive year.

Established in 2009, this prestigious award recognizes Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers that uphold the highest professional standards in the procurement of goods and services.

Each year, volunteers from the TASBO Purchasing & Supply Management Research Committee review and refine the award criteria to reflect the latest best practices before evaluating new and recertification applications. SBISD's consistent recognition underscores the district's tireless commitment to excellence in procurement operations.

"I am proud of the team's efforts and commitment to the Core Values in maintaining integrity and high standards even when we have operated without a full staff," said Lawanda Coffee, Executive Director for Compliance and Procurement. "I am proud to receive this award during my first year leading the purchasing and warehouse teams," she added.

Christine Porter, Associate Superintendent for Finance, and Lawanda Coffee, along with their dedicated team, are recognized for their continued success in maintaining top-tier procurement practices.

During the evaluation year, the SBISD Purchasing Department processed close to 12,800 purchase orders, onboarded more than 2,100 vendors, and completed 1,412 background checks and fingerprinting requests—all while also processing records and public information requests.

Tracy Ginsburg, TASBO Executive Director, remarked, "We're proud of the work our honorees do to streamline school purchasing operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars."SBISD's Procurement Services team's dedication to maintaining high standards continues to set a benchmark for excellence in school purchasing operations across Texas.
