Raymond Gonzales Jr., a 29-year veteran law enforcement officer, has been named a captain in the Spring Branch ISD Police Department, Superintendent Jennifer Blaine announced.

As captain, Gonzales will be second in command of the department to Chief Dale Dareing. He will be responsible for the general operation of the police department and will coordinate daily operations of departments to provide a safe environment for students and staff at all Spring Branch ISD schools.

Gonzales, the son of a police officer, said his father “made sure I understood the significance of being a person of integrity, honor, courage and respect. I believe we must treat everyone regardless of race, color, creed, religion or sexual orientation with respect and dignity.”

He has been with the Spring Branch ISD Police Department since 2002. He worked for eight years as an SBISD police officer before being promoted to corporal in 2010. In 2016, he was promoted to sergeant, and was promoted to lieutenant in 2019.

Gonzales began his law enforcement career in 1992, working for 10 years with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as a reserve deputy, jailer, patrol deputy and detective. He also worked as a police officer for Rice University in 2001-02.

“Ray is a highly respected law enforcement officer who will do an outstanding job as our police captain,” Dr. Blaine said.
