Red Ribbon Week inspires students to stay healthy & drug-free

Students at Cedar Brook Elementary celebrate Red Ribbon Week by "socking it to drugs"

Crazy socks, pajamas, camo, neon, crazy hair, team jerseys, costumes, cool sunglasses and backward clothes – what do these outfits have in common with drug use prevention?

For 30 years, the National Family Partnership has devoted its efforts to the well-being of youth. Each year, their National Red Ribbon Campaign mobilizes communities to encourage students to participate in drug prevention activities.

Many campuses in Spring Branch ISD develop creative slogans and accompanying outfits for the students to hear and wear each day of Red Ribbon Week. Here are just a few inspiring themes coming to a campus near you this week:

  • Sock it to bullies and drugs (wear crazy or mismatched socks)
  • Team up against drugs (wear favorite team gear)
  • My future is bright (wear a college shirt or neon)
  • I’m a jean-ius, I’m drug-free (wear jeans with school shirt)
  • I have the power to be drug-free (wear superhero costume)
  • Follow your dreams: don’t bully or do drugs (wear pajamas)
  • Addicted to learning, not bullies and drugs (dress up like favorite book character)
