We look forward to welcoming you and your children back to school this Thursday, August 15!
Here are a few bits of important information and some reminders!
Student Schedule/Teacher Assignment
Some of you and your children are quite tech savvy and may have inadvertently observed draft schedules or possible teacher assignments via student educational apps that may be used during the school year. Please note that any information you may have seen is unofficial and subject to change as our schools continue to refine their master schedules and balance classrooms. Enjoy the back-to-school events hosted by your child’s school at which time schedules will be finalized.
New! Opt-In for Parent E-Mail Addresses
Opt-in to share your parent email address with school-related entities/individuals- like the PTA or your child’s room parent. As your email is not considered “directory information” under our board policy, this is the best way for us to be able to share your contact information so you receive PTA and /or class news. Please go online through Family Access (see below), or complete the forms provided in your first-day packets to opt in for this service.
The Skyward App provides regular access to your child’s full academic year. Download the app and check grades, view schedules, monitor attendance and learn more about key calendar dates and school reminders. You and your child can also log into the Skyward (Family Access) portal from your campus or district website.
SchoolMessenger is SBISD’s tool to connect with parents and families via phone, text and email for district updates, our Top 10 e-newsletter and emergency communications. SBISD uses your email and phone numbers on-file in Skyward. Any changes in e-mail address and/or phone number should be made in Skyward’s Family Access or directly communicated to the campus, not in School Messenger. Don’t opt out of SchoolMessenger, or you won’t receive call-outs, emails or texts in emergencies! Learn more here.
All campus and district volunteers must complete an online application each year. If you were approved to volunteer last school year, that approval will expire on Oct. 1. It can take a week or more to be cleared through our background check process, so don’t delay – register today at our volunteer registration link!
Please be reminded that all visitors to SBISD schools and facilities must show a valid, government issued photo ID upon building entry and then be issued a visitors badge for each and every visit. This is an important part of our safety and security.
Peachjar is our e-flyer distribution partner for weekly distribution of district, campus and approved community partner information from area nonprofits and accredited educational organizations. School flyers may also be viewed by clicking on the Flyers icon on your campus homepage. Don’t miss important information about events, opportunities and programs for your children! Learn more here.
This year, SBISD student breakfast and lunch prices will remain the same. Some campuses qualify for school meals that are free for all students. Download the MealViewer App to view menus, review cafeteria accounts, and apply for free or reduced-price student meal benefits, if eligible. More information is available at our Child Nutrition Website here.
Catch a Bus
Find and view your school bus route and learn more about field trips, safety tips, and rules and regulations at our Transportation website. Provide street address, Zip Code, and grade level or school location, and Transfinder will find the bus that stops near your house or apartment.
