SBISD Bond 2017 Groundbreaking ceremonies set

Exciting work has been planned and will soon be underway on the district’s $898.4 million 2017 Bond Program. Several school groundbreaking ceremonies have been scheduled during upcoming weeks in November and early December.

SBISD voters approved the continued rebuilding of district schools and renovation of many additional campuses and facilities in the November 2017 bond election with 80 percent of the vote.

Landrum Middle School Groundbreaking Ceremony

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 4:30 p.m.

The Landrum Middle project represents the first replacement of a traditional middle school under the bond plan. Landrum Middle and KIPP Courage students and faculty will remain on their campus during construction as a new, three-story educational building is erected on site. First-phase construction will begin in late December; new building move-in is scheduled for June 2021. 

Hunters Creek Elementary School Groundbreaking Ceremony

Hunters Creek Elementary represents the first of nine remaining SBISD elementary schools that will be rebuilt under the bond plan. The new campus design is sensitive to green space, tree preservation and neighborhood compatibility needs. Hunters Creek students and staff will relocate this January 2020 to the district’s South Transition Campus. The new school is scheduled to open in August 2021. 

Cedar Brook Elementary School Groundbreaking Ceremony

School addition and renovations planned at Cedar Brook Elementary will result in six new classrooms, a science lab, two music rooms, and the renovation of the existing building’s interior. School renovations and updates are designed to serve the school and its community for several decades. The students and staff will remain on campus during construction. Work begins this fall, and is expected to continue until August 2021.
