Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) recently held its "Fall in Love with CTE: Destination Success" Career Discovery Day, marking a triumphant third consecutive year for Destination Success.
Held on a Saturday afternoon in the Memorial High School cafeteria, the event was a hit, drawing participation from students and families eager to explore the world of Career and Technical Education (CTE).
Attendees enjoyed a lineup of activities, from meeting with local firefighters to witnessing welding demonstrations, face painting, and live performances. The event showcased the 26 Programs of Study offered by SBISD’s CTE program, allowing families to connect with current students and instructors.
Highlights included culinary students guiding families in decorating fall-themed cookies, cosmetology students providing nail services, and robotics demonstrations that thrilled young tech enthusiasts. Visitors received career cards stamped as they explored booths, further enriching the experience.
CTE Director Christina Rice-Imumwen highlighted the event’s purpose: “We want our families to understand what CTE is and why it matters,” she said. “It’s thrilling to see so many families and students engaged today. The kids here will benefit from the community's investment through the 2022 Bond, and that’s truly empowering.”
The "Destination Success" event not only allowed families to interact with industry professionals and educators but also provided crucial insights into career pathways, training requirements, and growth opportunities in various fields.
Attendees also enjoyed a sneak preview of the Guthrie Center, which is set to be replaced as part of the 2022 Bond Program approved by the community. The program reflects SBISD’s dedication to providing students with access to top-tier learning facilities and resources essential for success in their chosen fields.
SBISD extends its gratitude to everyone involved for making this year’s event a resounding success. Families are encouraged to stay updated on future CTE events by following the SBISD website and social media accounts.
