SBISD December Athletics Spotlight: Clarissa Loebl

 

 

“Clarissa is what you would call the ideal student-athlete,” says Spring Oaks Middle School Coach Christina Archie. A ‘go-getter,’ in both the classroom and in her sports.

She is a true example of what a leader should look like, earning the respect from her teachers, coaches and teammates. Clarissa has been a joy to have these past few years and we look forward to all the things the future has in store for her!”

What sport do you participate in and why did you decide to begin participating?

I participate in all sports such as basketball, volleyball, track, cross country and soccer. I decided to participate in these sports because I love the excitement and the competition. I also like participating in these sports because I like to keep myself busy and to stay healthy physically and mentally, and I like being able to push myself to be better and learn new things.

What do you like most about participating in athletics at Spring Oaks Middle School?

I like participating in athletics at Spring Oaks Middle School because I have made many strong friendships with people and the coaches. They push me to be the best I can be both in and out of sports.

What Core Characteristic(s) have you developed most by being part of your sport?

Some Core Characteristics I have developed are Persistent & Adaptable and Communicator & Collaborator. How has your coach helped you or inspired you in the sport? My coaches have inspired me and helped me in different ways by saying things that I could do to get better, whether that's fixing my form in basketball for shooting or looking down low in the paint. My coaches inspire me because they are great role models and they love sports and know what they are talking about.

What has been your favorite moment(s) as a student-athlete at Spring Oaks Middle School?

My favorite moments as a student-athlete are things like seeing the finish line at the end of the race and sprinting, meeting new people from different schools, and becoming friends, and helping my friends out with things they might need help on or bringing up their confidence.

How do you think participating in athletics will prepare you for high school?

Participating in athletics will prepare me for high school by helping me to be disciplined, being on a schedule and being responsible.

Which high school will you attend?

I will be attending Spring Woods High School.

Will you participate in this sport and/or others in high school?

I will be participating in sports in high school.
