SBISD football teams recognized for Collaborative Spirit

At the annual Touchdown Club of Houston banquet on Wednesday, Jan. 31, two Spring Branch ISD high school football teams were honored.

The Spring Woods and Memorial High School football teams were among the top 15 out of 140 teams in the Houston Area to be recognized for exhibiting excellent sportsmanship in the 2022-2023 athletic season. Coached by Keith Cripps, the Tigers placed third overall.

The finalists were chosen based on the actions of the team, actions of the coaches and support groups, respect for the American flag, number of personal fouls incurred during the game, and number of unsportsmanlike conduct fouls.

Voting was done electronically by the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO) Houston Football Chapter

“Being among the top 15 finalists in the Houston area is an achievement that is highly valued among district athletic programs and their high school football teams as it is a reflection of the qualities that we want our teams and student-athletes to embody and exhibit,” said Paige Hershey, SBISD Executive Director of Athletics.
