SBISD students and educators Limitless Curiosity shine during STEM/STEAM Day

Spring Branch ISD students and educators celebrated National STEM/STEAM Day on Wednesday, Nov. 8. STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) are vital parts of Every Child’s educational journey.

The SBISD Educational Technology (Ed Tech) Department supports high quality teaching and learning through the lens of educational technology. Through various initiatives, like STEM/STEAM Day, SBISD Ed Tech provides customized support to school teams on the effective use of technology and innovative digital-age learning opportunities.

Technology Training Center (TTC)

At SBISD’s Technology Training Center (TTC), the SBISD Ed Tech team hosted educators for robot building, online coding, hands-on coding, Ozobots, science experiments and various other STEM challenges. Educators were able to stop by the TTC throughout the day and participate in hands-on activities that they can take back to the classroom and utilize for their students.

Edgewood Elementary School

Edgewood Elementary kindergarten and first-grade students participated in Coding Critters. Alongside educators, students utilized playful animal characters and 100% screen-free coding to learn about STEM-concepts. This not only taught students about STEM-concepts, but also about life cycles, habitats and various animals.

Thornwood Elementary School

BP’s Thunder Horse Production Management Squad visited Thornwood Elementary School students for interactive, hands-on activities about renewable power generation, oil and water separation and well construction.

Spring Forest Middle School

The Spring Forest Middle School Library was full of STEM-activities for students to try out. From electric guitars to soccer matches, students were able to dabble in various coding and engineering activities. We are #SBISDProud of students and educators for utilizing their Limitless Curiosity for National STEM/STEAM Day!
