Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) is proud to announce that several students have been named finalists in the 2025 I Am Texas writing and art contest, hosted by The Bryan Museum in Galveston.

  • Cornerstone Academy: Gabriella Peppard – short story The Family Font
  • Memorial High School: Arkana Anwar – artwork Kindred Souls
  • Memorial High School: Chloe Ni – artwork Steadfast
  • Memorial High School: Zanli Morris – artwork Texas Pride
  • Memorial High School: Rachael Won – artwork Touch of Affection

As finalists, their work will be published in the 2025 Historian’s Journal, which will become part of the Museum’s permanent library collection. Finalists are also invited to a special I Am Texas reception at The Bryan Museum on Nov. 23, and finalist artwork will be on display from Sept. 26–Nov. 23.

The I Am Texas contest began in 2022 when The Bryan Museum and Houston’s iWrite literacy organization joined forces to publish 1,000 student writers and artists in what became the Guinness World Record-breaking largest book in the world. Since then, the contest has grown across the state, with winning students earning thousands of dollars in scholarships and publishing prizes.

The 2026 I Am Texas contest will run from Oct. 10, 2025–April 30, 2026, and is open to all Texas students in grades 2–12.
