Scholastic Writing Award Winners Named
Scholastic Art & Writing Award
Harris County Department of Education

Four Spring Branch ISD high school students have earned Scholastic Writing awards in annual regional competition sponsored through the Harris County Dept. of Education (HCDE).

This year, one student won a top Gold Key award and now advances for final judging nationally. Three additional students won significant Silver Key awards.

These high school students will be honored with their peers in regional ceremonies planned on Feb. 28 at Spring Street Studios in Houston. A separate regional Gold and Silver Key Art and Writing Ceremony for high school students will be held March 27 at The Ballroom at Bayou Place in downtown Houston.

The next generation of creative leaders in the arts are celebrated and honored through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This year’s recipients join the ranks of iconic famous writers including the poet Sylvia Plath and novelists Truman Capote and Joyce Carol Oates.

HCDE serves annually as the regional sponsor for the national Scholastic Art & Writing program, and it reviews and judges thousands of student entries submitted by middle and high school writers.
