September 2025 Safety Message

A Message from Chief Baimbridge, SBISD Police Department

September is National Preparedness Month, a time to focus on the importance of being ready for emergencies and disasters that can occur without warning. In Spring Branch ISD (SBISD), the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Provided here is information on how our district prepares for and responds to emergencies, along with tips and resources families can use to strengthen their own preparedness at home.

Know the District’s Safety Procedures

Families and staff should review SBISD’s safety procedures every year. Each family should have received the SBISD Emergency Guide, which explains our standard response protocols. This information, along with details on how we communicate in emergencies, is also available on the SBISD website. Please take time to confirm that your contact preferences in Skyward/Family Access are up to date so you do not miss critical information.

Stay Informed

During an emergency, SBISD will share updates quickly through REMIND texts, robocalls, the district website, and social media. To make sure you receive these communications:

During an Emergency

When a safety situation arises, our first responsibility is to protect students and staff. Families can help us respond effectively by following these guidelines:

  • Do not call or go to the school. We understand the instinct to check on your child, but phone lines must stay clear for emergency personnel. Arriving on campus may also block emergency vehicles. Please wait for official updates.

  • If your child contacts you, reassure them and remind them to follow the school’s safety procedures.

  • Have a family plan. Talk with your child about school safety and practice what to do in emergencies. Use age-appropriate language and ensure they know where to go and how to communicate.

Helpful resources include:

Preparedness is a shared responsibility. By staying informed, reviewing procedures, and having a family plan, we can work together to keep our community safe.
