Seven years in a row! Spring Branch Education Foundation presents district with more than $1 million

The generosity of the community was on full display when representatives of the Spring Branch Education Foundation (SBEF) presented a giant check to Spring Branch ISD at September’s Board of Trustees regular meeting.

To be precise, $1,836,304 raised by the foundation in the past year was gifted to Spring Branch ISD to support programming, events, scholarships and other resources for students and educators.

Remarkably, this is the seventh consecutive year that more than $1 million has been provided to the district from SBEF. It is especially noteworthy that the foundation had this success regardless of the in-person fundraising constraints that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused in the past two years.

In opening remarks at the September 20 board meeting, Trustee J. Carter Breed said, “Each year, the Spring Branch Education Foundation finds creative ways to partner with the district and community to fund programs that enhance students’ educational experience. Thank you, SBEF, for your incredible work– you truly put our school district at the heart of all you do.”

With smiles and gratitude, Superintendent Jennifer Blaine and Board President Chris Gonzalez then received a symbolic $1,836,304 check from SBEF Executive Director CeCe Thompson and SBEF Board Chair Lisa Schwartz.

“On behalf of the SBEF board, we are thrilled to present these donated funds to Spring Branch ISD,” Thompson said. “The fundraising efforts are what make everything possible. It is all worth it for the students and teachers.”

Examples of what the SBEF funding makes possible are:

  • Character Without Question student recognitions
  • Project School Supplies (all students at Title I schools received supplies)
  • Mini-grants to teachers for innovative ideas to enhance classroom learning
  • Campus grants for supplemental equipment, supplies and student experiences
  • Support for mentor programs
  • Scholarships for seniors
  • Prizes and incentives for student participation in reading challenges

And SBEF says “yes” to many other requests and needs too numerous to list!

Thank you SBEF, for harnessing the efforts and generosity of many to support the success of Every Child in Spring Branch ISD.
