Spring Branch ISD’s 2023 GT Project Showcase
On Tuesday, March 7th, SBISD’s elementary Gifted and Talented (GT) students showed off their work during a GT Project Showcase at Don Coleman Coliseum. The event, well attended by district families, provided participants an opportunity to demonstrate their learning and exercise the Core Characteristics of an academic, Communicator and Collaborator.
In total, 146 students from schools across the district participated. From individual presentations to group projects, participants welcomed event attendees and formally presented both team and individual work in a designated display area on the coliseum floor.
Parents and attendees explored the displays and provided feedback to the GT students. Projects also become part of an ongoing portfolio students develop during their years in the GT program.
From interactive iPad presentations to intricate dioramas and theatrical performances, the range of Limitless Curiosity on display was impressive. Student participants were excited to share their projects and proud of their hard work!
SBISD’s Gifted and Talented program provides learners with advanced, rigorous, and differentiated independent research opportunities that are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)—projects on display at the event support reaching the state’s academic goals for Gifted and Talented students.
“This event is about recognizing the amazing work happening in our GT program,” said event organizer Linda Bimler. “I am impressed at how engaged our students are in learning and their ability to share knowledge in such powerful ways. The pride on everyone's faces says it all!”
SBISD Advanced Academic Studies organized the GT Project Showcase. Special thanks to National Honor Society students from Northbrook, Memorial, Spring Woods and Stratford High Schools for supporting the event.
